More than a few people beat a path through Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver was by far one of the most well-known artists who represented Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' first inductee, was honored with this honor in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people across the globe. Through my many travels, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. People will say, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you're from Colorado. Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition he knew right away the song could be an instant hit. After singing to an enthusiastic crowd on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
